Amid the pandemic, the Kerala State Films Awards 2020 were announced by the state's culture minister. The awards were declared on Tuesday. The jury was led by cinematographer and director Madhu Ambattu. The members of the jury including filmmakers Salim Ahmed and Abrid Shine, cinematographer Vipin Mohan, editor L Bhoominathan, sound engineer S Radhakrishnan, playback singer Lathika, actress Jomol, writer Benyamin and Chalachithra Academy member secretary C Ajoy watched 119 films that were nominated this year.
Speaking of the winners, Suraj Venjaramoodu bagged the Best Actor award for Android Kunjappan Version 5.25 and Vikrithi. On the other hand, Lijo Jose Pellissery was honoured with the Best Director award for Jalikattu. Anna Ben and Nivin Pauly took home the special Jury Mention awards for Helen and Moothon, respectively. Fahadh Faasil won the Best Character Actor for Trance and Kumbalangi Nights.
