On December 25, Tamil superstar Rajinikanth was admitted to Hyderabad's Apollo Hospitals after his blood pressure 'fluctuated severely'. The hospital clarified that it is not a case of COVID as he had tested negative on December 22. Now, three days later, Rajinikanth has been discharged from the hospital. According to a medical bulletin, the 70-year-old superstar's condition has improved. However, due to post-transplant status, labile hypertension and age, he had been advised complete bed rest.
"Mr. Rajnikanth was admitted to the hospital on December 25, 2020 with severe hypertension and exhaustion. He was kept under close medical supervision and treated by a team of doctors. His blood pressure has been stabilized and he is feeling much better. In view of his improved medical condition he is being discharged from the hospital today. In view of his post-transplant status, labile hypertension and age the following advice has been given in addition to the medications and diet: Complete bed rest for one week with regular monitoring of blood pressure along with minimal physical activity. He has also been counselled to avoid any activity that increases the risk of contracting Covid-19," the bulletin read.

Rajinikanth was taken to the hospital in the morning when his blood pressure showed severe fluctuations that needed further evaluation. He was shooting for his film Annaatthe in Hyderabad for the last few days. During this, a few people on the sets tested positive for Coronavirus. Rajinikanth, after testing negative, had been in isolation.
