Popular character actor Maran, who has worked in Tamil films such as Ghilli and Kuruvi, passed away due to COVID-19 complications at the age of 48. He was undergoing treatment at Chennai's Chengalpattu Government Hospital where he succumbed to the virus.
Pa Ranjith took to Twitter to mourn the demise of Maran. The translation of his Tamil tweet reads, “Unbearable sorrow..Maran anna who always showers unbridled love. Your daughter is crying that she did not even see your face!! I have no words to pacify !! Be safe, guys!!”

Arya, who worked with Maran in Sarpatta Parambarai, tweeted, “Heartfelt condolences to #Maran Anna’s family and friends. Can’t believe this. Will miss you anna #RIP.”

Maran was best known for his role in films like Ghilli and Kuruvi. Maran also appeared in a number of films including Thalainagaram, Dishoom and Vettaikaran to mention a few.
