The beginning of 2022 has not been that 'positive' for celebrities. Amid the third wave of COVID-19 and the outbreak of the Omicron variant, several Bollywood and South stars were diagnosed with the virus. On Thursday, Mahesh Babu and Lakshmi Manchu were added to the list.
Mahesh, who recently visited Dubai with his wife Namrata Shirodkar, son Gautam and daughter Sitara for New Year celebration, tested positive on returning to Hyderabad. His sister-in-law Shilpa Shirodkar had also contracted the virus. In a statement on Instagram, he wrote, "To all my fans and well-wishers, Despite taking all the necessary precautions, I've tested positive for COVID-l9 with mild symptoms. I've isolated myself at home and have been following medical guidance." The 46-year-old star added, "Request all those who came in contact with me to get themselves tested. I urge everyone who's not taken their vaccination to do so immediately, as it reduces the risk of severe symptoms and hospitalization. Please follow the COVID norms and stay safe. Can't wait to be back. Love."

Lakshmi penned a note on Instagram. She wrote, "It's going to affect everybody and get all of us just like a common cold. What we need to do is take care of our immunity and make sure our bodies are strong enough to fight the virus. So don't forget to take your vitamins and keep your mind and body in check. Don't forget to GET VACCINATED and if you are double vaccinated, find the best the booster for you."
Arun Vijay informed on Twitter, "Hi everyone!! This is to inform you'll that I have been tested positive for COVID-19. I am currently under home quarantine and following all the safety protocols as per my doctor's advice. Thanks for all the love.. Stay safe & take care everyone."
