After 18 years of togetherness, Dhanush and Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth announced their separation on Monday. This has come across as a major shock to fans who looked upon them as the ideal and power couple. Now, hours after the separation was announced, a throwback video featuring Dhanush and Aishwaryaa went viral.
In the throwback video, Dhanush can be seen singing Aishwaryaa's father, superstar Rajinikanth's song Ilamai Thirumbuthe from Petta at a party. The video indicated that the actor was the life of the party. Surrounded by friends, Dhanush walked towards Aishwaryaa and made her blush by singing the song for her.

In a statement, Dhanush and Aishwaryaa said, "18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting... Today we stand at a place where our paths separate... Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better. Please do Respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this."

They tied the knot in 2004 and are parents to two boys, Yatra Raja and Linga Raja.
