Nayanthara-Vignesh Shivan registered their marriage 6 years ago; surrogate is relative of actress, reveal couple in affidavit amid surrogacy row

Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan, who welcomed twin baby boys last week, landed in legal trouble soon after the announcement. The Tamil Nadu government raised questions over whether they followed the Indian surrogacy laws. Now, according to the latest development, Nayanthara and Vignesh submitted an affidavit to the concerned authorities. 

According to a news portal's report, Nayanthara and Vignesh revealed in the affidavit that their marriage was registered 6 years ago. They reportedly provided their marriage certificate for proof. The couple further clarified that their surrogate was a relative of the actress. Nayanthara and Vignesh mentioned that they registered for surrogacy in December 2021, when commercial surrogacy was legal in India. Reportedly, the Tamil Nadu government has also identified the Chennai hospital that the couple had contacted.

Nayanthara and Vignesh tied the knot in a grand yet intimate ceremony in Mahabalipuram on June 9. It was attended by the couple's industry mates. The news of the celebrated South couple's registered marriage was kept under wraps. 

Announcing their twin baby boys' arrival on October 9, Vignesh wrote, "Nayan & Me have become Amma & Appa. We are blessed with twin baby boys. All Our prayers, and our ancestors’ blessings combined wit all the good manifestations made, have come 2gethr in the form Of 2 blessed babies for us. Need all ur blessings for our Uyir & Ulagam. Life looks brighter & more beautiful. God is double great (sic)."
