Thalapathy Vijay and wife Sangeetha getting a divorce after being married for 23 years? Here’s the truth

South superstar Thalapathy Vijay is one of the most prominent names in the Kollywood industry. The actor is currently on a promotional spree for his upcoming film Varisu whose trailer has already created quite a buzz amongst his fans. However, his personal life has come under scrutiny as it is reported that Vijay is heading for a divorce from wife Sangeetha after 23 years of marriage. The rumours started when Sangeetha was absent from filmmakers Atlee’s wife’s baby shower and was also not present at Varisu’s trailer launch event. Although the actor has not commented anything on the matter, an online portal quoted a source that rubbished such rumours.

The portal quoted a source that said, “The rumors of Vijay and Sangeetha's divorce are baseless. We have no idea how it started.” The source further revealed that Sangeetha is currently on a holiday with their kids that is why she was absent from the Varisu trailer launch. It is also expected that Vijay will soon join the family on the vacation.

Sangeetha and Vijay’s divorce rumours were fueled by the actor’s Wikipedia page which claimed that the couple has decided to get a divorce amicably. This left the actor’s massive fanbase worried and in dismay. However, it looks as if there is no inkling of any truth in the rumours.

Thalapathy Vijay and Sangeetha got married on August 25, 1999. Their love story is no less than a fairytale. They met for the first time in 1996 when Sangeetha, a die-hard fan of Vijay came all the way to Chennai from the United Kingdom to meet him and lauded him for his spectacular performance in the Poove Unakkaga. Vijay appreciated her efforts and invited her to his house for a chat and to meet his family. Eventually the duo fell in love and tied the knot in both Hindu and Christian traditions. They welcomed their first child, Jason Sanjaya in 2000 and their daughter Divya in 2005.
