It seems like Ekta Kapoor is on a roll with her surprises. This week, she made the third big announcement. After releasing season 2 of the famous web series, Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat and a new show Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai, Ekta came out with her latest venture with director Subhash Kapoor which will be a web series based on the infamous Nanavati Murder Case of 1959.
Subhash has entertained audiences with his satirical films like Phas Gaye Re Obama, Jolly LLB and Jolly LLB 2 to name a few. With this new show, he will be marking his digital debut. Currently, the show is in its pre-production stage and the cast is yet to be finalized.
Nanavati murder case refers to the murder of businessman Prem Ahuja. Ahuja was shot by a naval officer Kawas Manekshaw Nanavati. Apparently, the business tycoon was having an affair with the naval officer’s wife, Sylvia. After shooting him down, Nanavati surrendered to the police. In spite of being declared not-guilty by the jury, he was sentenced to a lifetime imprisonment.
The Bombay High Court believed media, especially the Blitz magazine had a major role in influencing the jury. Though, three years into imprisonment Nanavati was pardoned by Vijaylakshmi Pandit who was the then governor of the city and sister of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
