Blood & Betrayal: Saif-Nawaz starrer The ‘Sacred Games’ teaser seduces alright!

The teaser of ‘Sacred Games’ is out, and we are intrigued! What’s more, “Even if you're a god, betrayal is the only truth,” you are told and this Netflix series will show us just why they make this claim.

Here are 6 reasons why we are hooked already…

Moody Blues
The mood is gritty and shadowy as we are treated to dimly lit shots of Mumbai. The theme song is ominous. Nawazuddin Siddiqui as gangster Gaitonde drawls, “Sometimes, I feel I am god.” He asks, “Do you believe in god?” This is going to be addictive alright.

Sensational Tale
The story is based on the award-winning novel by Vikram Chandra. It combines the ambition of a 19th-century social novel with a cops-and-gangsters detective thriller. Money and corruption are key, as it explores the links between organized crime, local politics and espionage that lie below the shimmering surface.

Directors’ Special
Directed by those maverick Phantom men Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane, this offering is right up their dark and deadly alley. Also as Kashyap points out, he has often been denied the freedom to express his true self in films. With ‘Sacred Games’ it will be all about the freedom to the tell the tale as it deserves to be told.

Talent Galore
The cast includes Saif Ali Khan as Sartaj Singh, a Mumbai police officer who investigates the circumstances leading to the death of gangster Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). Radhika Apte plays Anjali Rathod, a Research and Analysis wing agent who takes over the investigation. So much talent in one series? We’re not complaining!

Edge of the Seat Suspense
The cat and mouse games will come with the edge of bloody violence. The series will show Saif’s Sartaj seeking knowledge of his prey. But there are bigger games at play when it becomes clear that the battle that the two thought they were engaged in is, in fact, part of a much larger scenario…

And finally, it’s Netflix!
Come July, it airs on Netflix, which is synonymous with great content. As Radhika Apte herself puts it, “Everybody watches Netflix and it has come up with such good content,” Apte said. “I was just like I’d love to be a part of that…First, it is a Netflix show and everybody gets to see it. Second, it is really good quality work.”
