Despite boasting of super hit Bollywood films and peppy item numbers in her kitty, she still is, widely known as an adult movie star. Agreed, the industry was where 'Sunny Leone' was born. But even after leaving it far behind in the past, the audience doesn't seem to accept her as an actress. Not all.

Through her biopic series, Sunny attempts to narrate the untold and unspoken story of how a simple girl Karenjit Kaur Vohra became the Sunny Leone we know today. But looks like the biopic series has managed to irk the Sikh Community even before its release. After the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee having issues with the usage of 'Kaur' in the title Karenjit Kaur: The Untold Story, the Akali Dal, on Monday, warned the makers against consequences if the surname is not dropped.

Actress Sunny Leone is ready to tell her story through "Karenjit Kaur: The Untold Story of Sunny Leone" despite the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) having issues with the usage of "Kaur" in the title of the web series. Manjinder Sirsa, a member of the Akali Dal, told a leading news agency, “We have no objection with her profession, it’s her personal life. Our only objection is simply that we want them to remove the surname ‘Kaur’ because when she herself had earlier dropped ‘Kaur’ from her name then why it is being used now? We have urged the Chairman of Essel Group, Subash Chandra, to immediately remove it or face the consequences.”

Sunny Leone was born in Sarnia, Ontario to Sikh Punjabi parents as Karenjit Kaur. Despite hailing from the Sikh Community, Sunny's parents sent her to a Catholic school for her safety. Albeit Sunny has dropped 'Kaur' as her last name, but last year, when she and husband Daniel Webber adopted a daughter from Latur, they named her Nisha Kaur Webber.

Amid opposition to her life story, Sunny did tweet to her fans on Saturday promoting the series.

After a stint in the adult film industry, Sunny shot to fame in India when she entered the Bigg Boss house as a contestant in 2011. She made her Bollywood debut with Jism 2 in 2012. Sunny and husband Daniel have now settled in Mumbai. In March 2018, they had extended their family by including two more children -- sons Noah and Asher -- via surrogacy.

The series comes in two installments with 10 episodes in each. And if Sunny is to be believed, Karenjit Kaur: The Untold Story showcases an unexpected part of her life story and not necessarily the journey viewers are waiting to see.
