Web series in India has taken up and how! AltBalaji, Netflix, AmazonPrime are all calling the shots in the sphere of digital content as more and more people are getting hooked on to these than watching shows on television. After scoring an ace on Netflix with their first original series Sacred Games that starrer Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte, Kubra Sait, Rajshri Deshpande and Pankaj Tripathi, Phantom Films is looking forward to expanding its footprint in the digital space. The production house is all set to helm a web series for Amazon Prime Video India.

As reported by an entertainment portal details of the show are still under wraps but it will be co-directed by Vikas Bahl of Queen fame and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari who directed Bareilly Ki Barfi. Details about the new series are not known except for the fact that the two talented directors will be sharing episodes between them. Amazon Prime has surely got a winner on their hands with talented leaders on board and Phantom Films backing the project.
Sacred Games was directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane and was based on Vikram Chandra’s best-selling novel of the same name.
Other than Sacred Games the production house has also produced Ghoul for Netflix that stars Radhika Apte and Manav Kaul in the lead role. Phantom Films was established by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl and Madhu Mantena. They started their own production house because of their failure in convincing every time to someone to invest in the kind of cinema they make. However, in March 2015, Reliance Entertainment picked up a 50 per cent stake in the company. The first film they produced was Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha starrer Lootera which was directed by Motwane and was based on O.Henry’s short story The Last Leaf.
