Netflix on Friday finally announced the much anticipated second season of India's first homegrown original series, Sacred Games. The first season of the web-show, starring Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte in leads, was applauded for its gritty plot and hard-hitting performances. Now the upcoming season will pick up where it left off and further explore how Sartaj Singh (Saif) pursues his battle to save Mumbai as he dives deep into Ganesh Gaitonde's (Nawazuddin) past.
The streaming giant shared a motion poster on social media as well, which has voice-overs by characters from Season 1 — Sartaj, Gaitonde, Anjali Mathur (Radhika Apte) and police officer Parulkar (Neeraj Kabi), among others. It also reveals the new title design of the season. Interestingly, Pankaj Tripathi — who was seen in cameo role of a godman called Guru Ji whom Nawazuddin's character Gaitonde describes as his "third father" — will play the central role in the second part.

On a related note, a news agency quoted Netflix’s Erik Barmack as saying, "It’s incredibly exciting for us to take the story of Sacred Games forward and open a new chapter in the series with its second season." Sacred Games, a larger-than-life gangster-cop crime saga, is based on Vikram Chandra's novel titled by the same name.
