Netflix clears the air on Sacred Games season 2, will continue to work with Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane

Finally, some good news for Anurag Kashyap Vikramaditya Motwane and Varun Grover after the dissolution of Phantom Films in the wake of #MeToo allegations levied against their co-founder and partner Vikas Bahl. Netflix in a statement said that it would continue to work with Kashyap, Motwane and Varun Grover on Sacred Games season 2. However, Phantom Films will not be credited on Sacred Games season 2 as the company is no more. Grover is one of the writers for the show and has also been accused of sexual harassment allegations. However, things have not been proved against him and many people came in support of him in lieu of the allegations.

Netflix issued a statement which read, “After an independent investigation, the results helped inform Netflix's decision to continue with Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap on season 2 of Sacred Games. We continue to collaborate with our production partners to ensure and maintain a safe and respectful working environment.” The hugely popular web series stars Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte, Rajshri Deshpande, Neeraj Kabi and Kubra Sait in the lead.

It was reported by a leading daily that the shooting schedule of the web series has been affected and has been pushed from November to March but another technology-based portal reported that the work on the new season has been progressing as usual at Phantom Films.

In the wake of Phantom Films dissolution, several projects had a question mark looming over them. However, most of the projects’ nitty-gritty have been sorted out and work is progressing as usual. Although not everyone has fared as well as Motwane and Kashyap stepped down from their board member roles at MAMI and two short films individually produced by them- Bebaak and Awake, respectively have also been scrapped from the premier list even though they had nothing to do with Phantom Films and were produced on an individual capacity. Bebaak writer-director Shazia Iqbal had called out the hypocrisy of MAMI.
