Netflix drops the first poster of Huma Qureshi's Leila and we are stunned

Amidst the hype surrounding the upcoming season of Sacred Games, Netflix has dropped the first poster of its upcoming dystopian drama Leila, to be helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Deepa Mehta. The series stars Huma Qureshi in the lead which will mark her digital debut. 

The dystopian drama is based on Prayaag Akbar's book by the same name. The poster of Leila shows, Huma Qureshi blindfolded with a yellow cloth, with the caption, ‘commit to the cause,' along with a maroon sari and a beaded necklace and a peace sign. Netflix posted the first look on their social media handle.

Set to be a six-episode series, it revolves around Shalini (portrayed by Huma Qureshi), a mother struggling to find her daughter whom she lost during summer. Leila follows the hardships that fall into her path, the obstacles that she endures as she searches for her daughter and explores the mother's longing, faith and loss.

The series will also feature actors Rahul Khanna, Sanjay Suri and Arif Zakaria among others. Leila is slated to air from June 14 on Netflix.

Huma was last seen in Dobaara: See Your Evil along with her brother Saqib Saleem. She will also be seen in a Tamil film KaalaAre you excited about Huma’s digital debut because we are?
