For the past few months, there have been rumours that Ishaan Khatter was roped in by filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj for a film, which will stream on Netflix and is an adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children. It was said that Vishal approached Ishaan as he was impressed by the young actor’s performance in Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi’s Beyond the Clouds. In fact, another report went on to suggest that Ishaan had even opted out of Mira Nair’s adaptation of A Suitable Boy after signing Vishal’s film.
Reportedly, Ishaan was finalised to play Saleem Sinai in the film and it was undoubtedly a big break for the young actor, although no confirmation was provided as Ishaan and Vishal were said to be in talks at the moment about the project. Not to forget, Vishal has directed Ishaan's brother Shahid Kapoor in several films like Kaminey, Rangoon and Haider. However, to everyone's dismay, we now hear that Ishaan and Vishal have amicably parted ways over growing creative differences. According to a report in a leading daily, Vishal is now looking to launch a newcomer in his Netflix film.
Well, if the report in indeed true, Ishaan has lost not one but two great projects, including Mira Nair’s adaptation of A Suitable Boy.
On the work front, Ishaan was last seen in Dhadak, Karan Johar’s Hindi remake of Nagraj Manjule’s Marathi film Sairat, alongside Janhvi Kapoor. For now, we await an official confirmation from the actor's side about his next project.
