Netflix’s Sacred Games 2 is all set to premiere tomorrow on the OTT platform and the fans are eagerly waiting to return back to the world inhabited by Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) and Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan). The season will also see Surveen Chawla in a more prominent role as Jojo. In an interview, Nawazuddin and Surveen spoke about their interesting yet complicated relationship in the series.
In teasers and promotional videos, we get to see Nawazuddin and Surveen indulging in banter that is snarky, sarcastic as well as funny. The best part about their relationship is that Surveen’s character Jojo that had only a fleeting appearance in season one id not afraid of Gaitonde’s devilry and evil. Talking about Jojo’s uninhibited persona, Nawazuddin said, “Jojo's characters gives Gaitonde a kick. When a person becomes powerful after undergoing a lot of struggle, he wants somebody to challenge him, to be unaffected by his power. Jojo gives that punch, that kick to him.”
Surveen also had some interesting take on their relationship in the series. She said, “I enjoyed imagining how Nawaz would say the lines. We mostly have a phone relation and it was enjoyable. Gaitonde ko naa sunne ki aadat nahi hai. Ye ek hi insaan hai jo naa bolti hai aur sar chhad ka naa bolti hai. . She is someone who has a very strong mind of her own. Nawazuddin get a kick out of interacting with Jojo and the banter. The challenging aspect for Jojo is that it's (the relationship) is something that she is longing for, she wants it, yet she doesn't want it and is in the denial. It's quite confusing where she stands in life because of the kind of experiences she has in the past that has brought her where she is.”
Apart from Saif, Nawazuddin and Surveen, Sacred Games 2 also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Kalki Koechlin, Ranveer Shorey, Elnaaz Norouzi, Shalini Vatsa and Amruta Subhash.
