It won't be wrong to say that Ekta Kapoor, with her shows and web series, has added a new dimension to entertainment. Her digital platform, ALT Balaji, with unique and exciting shows, has time and again managed to keep its audience entertained with a variety of genre to choose from. And now, as per reports of a leading daily, Ekta is reportedly in talks for developing web show on Kama Sutra for the digital platform and actress Sunny Leone is said to be roped in for the same. A source close to the development informed the daily that the Ragini MMS 2 star has heard the outline and has given a positive nod to Ekta, who believes the actress is the perfect choice for the role. The source further added that the show will be set in the 13th century and focus on the women belonging to the Goli caste in Rajasthan.
"Discussions have been on between the duo (Sunny and Ekta) over the past few months. Sunny has heard the outline of the show and has agreed in principle to be part of it. The two have earlier successfully collaborated for Ragini MMS 2 (2014) and Ekta is convinced that the actor is the right person for the role. Set in the 13th century, the fictional series will focus on the women of the Goli caste in Rajasthan, who used to serve as concubines to the kings," the source told the daily.
Sunny Leone and Ekta Kapoor
Speaking of Sunny, she isn't a new face on the digital spectrum as she starred in her own autobiography series Karenjit Kaur: The Untold Story of Sunny Leone streaming on Zee5. This show traces the journey of Sunny from a normal Sikh girl to a porn star, who then becomes a popular Bollywood actress.
Coming to the topic of Kama Sutra on celluloid, this isn't the first time when a cinematic projection on the issue has been taken into consideration. Mira Nair's Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love(1997), starring Rekha and Indira Varma was apparently among the initial films on it and was even screened at the Cannes Film Festival back then. It was banned in India and Pakistan for its erotic content.
