Kajol, after nearly three decades in Bollywood, is all set to step into the digital zone with a web-film. Titled Tribhanga, the project marks the actress's debut on Netflix. The film co-starring Mithila Palkar, Tanvi Azmi, Kunaal Roy Kapur and Vaibhav Tatwawaadi was scheduled to hit the digital streaming giant next year, it seems the makers are considering an earlier release date given the increasing demand for web content amid Coronavirus Lockdown. According to reports of a leading daily, Netflix is in talks with the team behind this Renuka Shahane directorial to fast-track the activities on Tribhanga. A source close to the development informed that the film is inching closer to the finish line with background music and VFX work is pending.
"While Netflix has several offerings lined up, Tribhanga is one of its few projects that is close to the finish line. The editing is complete; only the background music and VFX are pending. So, the OTT platform has requested the producer to expedite the delivery of the final product," the source told.
One of the producers of Tribhanga, Siddharth P Malhotra, during an interview with the leading daily, indicated that the family drama may release this year. He further added that the dates aren't decided yet and it can be confirmed only when the final edit is submitted to Netflix. "We have not discussed a date yet, but given the current situation, Tribhanga may drop online this year. It can be confirmed only after we submit the film to Netflix. After the delivery, the OTT service has its internal processes, which take a month or two," Siddharth said.
Assuring that the pending work will be taken up on priority as soon as the lockdown is lifted, Siddharth said the team requires nearly a month or two to complete the necessary post-production segments. He hoped that if the lockdown is lifted by mid-May, the final render can be delivered by July. "We can't resume work until the studios open their doors. Considering the work remaining on sound effects and VFX, we will need a month or two to deliver the final product. Even if the lockdown is lifted by mid-May, we should be able to deliver it latest by July," Siddharth concluded.
Tribhanga, which is also an Odissi dance pose that is disjointed and asymmetrical, will trace the lives of three women belonging to different generations of the same family. Set in Mumbai, the film will shed light on the complexities of families and will cumulate with a message indicating their importance. Tribhanga is also produced by Ajay Devgn Ffilms with Siddharth and Banijay Asia.
