Janhvi Kapoor's second film Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is one of the much-anticipated projects of 2020. The biographical film based on the life of the first Indian female airforce pilot in combat Gunjan Saxena has garnered the right amount of attention since its announcement. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Sharan Sharma directorial had to opt for a direct-to-web release. Scheduled to premiere on Netflix, the makers of Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl unveiled new motion posters on social media today.
Along with that, the premiere date of Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl was also announced. Janhvi, who plays the titular role, confirmed that the film will be out for the audience to enjoy on August 12,2020. "Proud to bring to you the story of India’s first woman Air Force Officer to go to war. A journey that I hope will inspire you the way that it has inspired me. GunjanSaxena - The Kargil Girl is landing on 12th August to your #Netflix screens!," Janhvi wrote while sharing the motion posters.
Coincidentally, the film will release a day before Janhvi's mother late Sridevi's birth anniversary that is August 13. The first look of the biopic was released on August 29 last year. It was primarily scheduled to hit the screen on March 13 but got pushed to April 24. Pankaj Tripathi plays Janhvi's father in Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl while Angad Bedi is her brother. Viineet Kumar and Manav Vij will feature in important roles. The film marks director Sharan's directorial debut.
