Janhvi Kapoor, after making her debut with Dhadak in 2018, went missing from the silver screen. Now, after much wait, the actress is all set to take the audience and her fans on an adrenaline-pumping flight as IAF Pilot Gunjan Saxena in Dharma Productions' Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl. The biographical film based on the life of the first Indian female airforce pilot in combat will premiere on Netflix on August 12, 2020. The trailer of the film is expected to release by this month-end. Ahead of it, Janhvi, in a recent interview, spoke about how shooting for the film changed her perspective. The 23-year-old daughter of late Sridevi and Boney Kapoor said she never had to deal with the difficulties women have to go through in real life.
"I haven’t had to deal with the kind of things that most women have to deal with. Because I do come from a slightly more privileged background and so I have been extremely lucky in the way that I have been treated and the opportunities that I have gotten," Janhvi told.
Talking about the difficulties that Gunjan faced during the war, Janhvi said she doesn't have anything to complain about as she has been in a protected environment throughout. Janhvi told that the film broadened her horizon and perspective. "I don’t think I have anything to complain about, but hearing her story, being in a simulated environment, when knowing that she’s been in probably these real situations, I don’t know if I can say maybe sympathise, but it made me come close to watch it may have been like, and it, of course, broadened my horizon and perspective of what women might be going through," the actress added.
Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is produced by Karan Johar under his Dharma Productions. The film directed by Sharan Sharma also features Angad Bedi, Pankaj Tripathi, Viineet Kumar and Manav Vij.
