The teaser of Hansal Mehta’s web series Scam 1992, has been recently unveiled by SonyLiv. The series follows the life of infamous Harshad Mehta- a stockbroker who single-handedly took the stock market to ‘dizzying heights & his catastrophic downfall’. Based on the book The Scam by Debashish Basu and Sucheta Dalal, the series showcases the country’s most infamous financial scandal.
Set in 1980s and 1990s, the teaser begins with a hesitant yet persistent man (Sharib Hashmi) telling a journalist about Rs 500 crore SBI scam. When the female journalist played by Shreya Dhanwanthary inquires about the identity of the fraudster, the man replies in hushed tones, “Harshad Mehta”. As he reveals the name of the perpetrator we see intercuts of Pratik Gandhi as Mehta in the teaser.

The series also stars Satish Kaushik, Nikhil Dwivedi, Ananth Mahadevan, and Rajat Kapoor.
Stockbroker Harshad Mehta was popularly known as ‘the Amitabh Bachchan of Stock market’ was the brain behind Rs 500 crore 1992 securities scandal. The scam exposed several loopholes in the functioning of the stock market, backs and the financial sector.
