Hasan Minhaj’s Patriot Act has come to an end on Netflix. The comedian broke the news on Twitter thanking the writers, producers, researchers and animators of the show. He also acknowledged the support of the streaming giant Netflix. The show ran for six season and had won numerous awards.
Patriot Act premiered on the streaming service in October 2018 and released 39 episodes. What turned out to be its final episode was aired in June 2020. The series has often found itself at the center of controversy. In 2019, Netflix removed an episode from steaming in Saudi Arabia after officials complained that it reflected the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in bad light. The episode was critical of the Prince and his alleged role in the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
What a run. @patriotact has come to an end. I got to work with the best writers, producers, researchers, and animators in the game. My 2 babies were born and grew up with the show. TY to @Netflix and everyone who watched. Now it’s time to return these screens to Best Buy pic.twitter.com/4s4TrsKWe6

Patriot Act has won a Peabody Award and an Emmy for Outstanding Motion Design and two Webby Awards. Minhaj also stirred controversy when he was not allowed to attend PM Narendra Modi’s 'Howdy Modi' event during his US visit.
Patriot Act has joined a long list of talk series cancelled by Netflix. The Break With Michelle Wolf, The Joel McHale Show With Joel McHale and Chelsea, have all been cancelled by the digital platform.
