The stakes couldn’t be higher as HBO released the new trailer for the fantasy series His Dark Materials Season 2. The epic journey continues with Dafne Keen’s character Lyra out to find the truth about new worlds. The season 2 of the drama is based on The Subtle Knife, Book 2 of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy and finds Lyra in a new world after stepping through a portal into another reality, chasing after her betrayer father Lord Asriel (James McEvoy) at the end of season 1.
The Subtle Knife follows Lyra and Will Parry (Amir Wilson) as they spend a lot of time in Cittàgazze, a city the former once glimpsed glimmering in the night sky through the borealis. Many of the characters from Season 1 reappear trying to find Lyra for their own nefarious as well as benevolent schemes.
