Actor Ronit Roy, who played the role of a police officer in the crime thriller Hostages, is all set for the season 2. Directed by Sudhir Mishra, Hostages was an official adaptation of the internationally acclaimed series of the same name. It also featured actress Tisca Chopra in the lead role.
The second season's announcement was made by the streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar. Sharing a glimpse of Ronit in a video with the release date of the second season, Disney+ Hotstar capationed it as, "Aankhon hi aankhon mein ishaara ho gaya #HandaZindaHai aur Prithvi humaari life mein dobara aa gaya! #Hostages2 Streaming from September 9."

A new video shared by Roy indicated that the chief minister is still alive. He captioned the video as, "#HandaZindaHai, lekin kab tak? #Hostages Season 2, coming soon. @DisneyplusHSVIP"

The series finished shooting just before the lockdown was imposed in March and the post-production work was completed afterwards. Hostages 2 will release on Disney+ Hotstar on September 9, 2020.
