The first trailer for Pieces of a Woman starring Vanessa Kirby and Shia LaBeouf in leading roles is out now. The film’s heart-wrenching trailer boasts of laudable performances by the lead actors as they come to terms with the devastating loss of their baby after birth. Directed by Hungarian filmmaker Kornél Mundruczó, the film is a drama about a Boston couple who are shattered after the loss of their baby, failing a home birth at the hands of a confused midwife.
Vanessa portrays an upper-middle class young woman named Martha who chose to bring her daughter into the world in home birth. Her husband (Shia) is a blue-collared worker named Sean. The couple navigates through pre-existing struggles such as Martha’s controlling and disapproving mother (Ellen Burstyn) and Sean’s addiction. The birth of their child is the only hope for the couple but that also goes for a toss when they lose their newborn.
