The trailer of John David Washington’s and Zendaya’s secret quarantine film Malcolm & Maries has been dropped. Directed by Sam Levinson, the film is shot in monochrome and traces the romantic relationship of the couple.
Washington plays a filmmaker who has returned with his partner Marie (Zendaya) from his film’s premiere. The celebratory mood of the evening takes a turn as revelations about their relationship surface, testing their love as they wait for the film’s critical response.

Malcolm & Marie appears to explore the nature of modern romantic relationships. The film follows the titular couple’s relationship as they unpack their relationship; make boxed mac ’n’ cheese and spill out secrets, feelings and revelations about each other.
The film has already created quite a buzz with Netflix acquiring the title for a whopping $30 million at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival. The trailer tells us, ““This is not a love story. This is the story of love,” and it sure promises a lot with its trailer. Malcolm & Marie premieres on Netflix on February 5.
