2020 was a great year for the web platform. Be it some of the finest shows or discovering hidden gems, the OTT made it a memorable year in terms of entertainment and content generation. Now, as we have already entered 2021, the awards season has finally kickstarted. On Saturday, the 25th Asian Television Awards were announced.
Making Indian proud, Barun Sobti- Arshad Warsi's Asur and Anushka Sharma-backed Paatal Lok won big. Barun, who played the role of Nikhil Nair in Asur, won an award in Best Actor in a Supporting Role category. The director, Oni Sen, bagged the Best Direction (Fiction) award. Anushka's Paatal Lok starring Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhishek Banerjee, Neeraj Kabi, Ishwak Singh and others won Best Original Digital Drama Series award.
Talking about the win, Barun said in a statement, "Asur was one of the most challenging roles that I've played in my career. Sometimes, I spent hours trying to figure out the roadmap of a scene in my head. To be recognized for this effort motivates me further to carry on this practice of meticulous planning and commitment towards my work. I will forever be grateful for all those people who are responsible for this. I will forever be grateful to all the people who created this great show and made me be a part of it."
Oni told, "It brings me immense pleasure to receive the Best Direction Award for Asur at Asian Television Awards. Directing Asur has been a fantastic experience. It was fabulous collaborating with the writer Gaurav Shukla, the Voot Select's creative team and the immensely talented cast. I would also like to congratulate Barun Sobti for his award."
