Amid the row over Tandav, a four-member team of Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday arrived at the residence of the show's director Ali Abbas Zafar to serve him notice in connection with a case filed against him in Lucknow. However, after finding no one at Ali's home, the cops pasted their notice.
“We have served notice asking him to appear before IO (Investigation Officer) on 27th January in Lucknow. His house was locked and nobody was there, so we pasted the notice there," Anil Kumar Singh, Uttar Pradesh Police told a news agency.

The UP Police team is likely to record statements of the makers and cast and crew of the Amazon Prime Video's series, which has been accused of hurting religious sentiments for its depiction of Hindu deities.
Earlier, the makers of Tandav had announced that they will be removing the controversial Shiva scene from the series soon and announced it with an official statement. In a statement shared on social media on Tuesday, Ali wrote, "We have utmost respect for the sentiments of the people of our country. We did not intend to hurt or offend the sentiments of any individual, caste, community, race, religion or religious beliefs or insult or outrage any institution, political party or person, living or dead. The cast & crew of Tandav have made the decision to implement changes to the web series to address the concerns raised towards the same. We thank the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for the guidance & support in the matter. We once again apologize if the series has unintentionally hurt anybody's sentiments."
Ali had earlier also issued an apology on behalf of the cast and crew, after several people involved with the show, including himself, were named in an FIR.
