Manoj Bajpayee's spy-thriller, The Family Man, had garnered much attention and critical and commercial appreciation in 2019. Directed by Raj & DK, the second season of the show is ready to entertain fans. The makers announced that The Family Man season 2 will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on February 12. However, it seems fans will have to wait for some more time to meet Srikant Tiwari (Manoj's character). According to a media agency's report, the OTT platform, Amazon Prime Video is considering postponing the show.
An insider reportedly told the agency that controversies around Amazon Prime's two major shows- Tandav and Mirzapur, have led the team to postpone the release of The Family Man 2. "The show has been postponed as the platform appears to be cautious. There's nothing in season two of 'The Family Man' that would hurt anybody but given the current scenario, to be on a safer note it has been decided to push ahead the release of the show," the insider told the agency.
Amazon Prime landed in hot water after a section of social media and politicians accused the makers and actors of Tandav of hurting Hindu sentiments by mocking Gods. The Supreme Court denied giving protection from arrest to actors like Saif Ali Khan, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub and director Ali Abbas Zafar were denied.
While things were getting difficult and tense, a case against the makers of the show, Mirzapur, was filed for hurting sentiments and projecting the city in a bad light. Providing relief to producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, Allahabad High Court stayed their arrest.
The Family Man season 2 marks South actress Samantha Akkineni's web debut and is her first Hindi-language project. It also features Sharib Hashmi, Priyamani, Sharad Kelkar and others. The trailer of The Family Man 2 was to release on January 19, but there is still no update on it.
