The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced the nominees for Golden Globe 2021 last evening and Netflix’s hit series Bridgerton was not on the list. The web series has been binge watched by over 80 million households across globe and lauded as one of the streaming giant’s most successful original series, so the expectations were high Bridgerton will get a few nominations. However, the hit period drama has been completely left out of all possible categories and the snub has not gone down well with the fans, with some of them calling it downright ‘disgraceful’.
Set during the Regency era London, Bridgerton’s season one focused on young Daphne Bridgerton (played by Phoebe Dynevor) and her foray into the marriage market to find a suitable suitor. Enter, Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset (played by Rege-Jene Page) who has taken the internet by storm with his tall, dark and handsome looks. The snub has left Twitterati fuming. Bridgerton's costume and cinematography alone deserve awards. Not to mention Phoebe, Regé and Adjoa acted their asses off. Does Disney have something to do with Golden Globes because I don't understand this huge Shondaland snub

Who needs the Golden Globes? We’ll have our own awards program where we get to watch Rege-Jean Page unbutton his cuff for 3 straight hours. Seriously, guys. Snubbed? Are you kidding? #Bridgerton #GoldenGlobes pic.twitter.com/jwHZppiEKk

People scoffed at the two nominations scored by Emily in Paris that got panned by critics for its unrealistic portrayal of Paris and French culture.
RIGHT?! all the noms Emily in Paris got should’ve gone to bridgerton

I’m sorry but the fact that Emily in Paris is nominated for a Golden Globe over like Bridgerton who’s a show that brings together black and white people and who stands up for women then idk what’s wrong with the world....

The eight-part series is showrunner Chris Van Dusen’s adaptation of Julia Quinn’s best-selling romance novels. The Shonda Rhimes-produced drama had also received high marks from the critics, earning 89% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it seems the series failed to impress the Golden Globes jury for a suitable nomination.
