Alvaro Morte, who plays Sergio Marquina aka ‘The Professor’ in Netflix’s hit Spanish drama Money Heist has wrapped the shoot of the show’s fifth and final season. Morte took to Instagram to share an emotional post on completing the series and thanked his fans as he bid adieu to the popular character. The video that he shared was shot in the car when he was leaving the shoot for the last time.
He captioned the video, “Leaving for the last time the set of @lacasadepapel Words are unnecessary. Thankful for so much, for everything. To the fans (the first ones, of course), to the entire team of @vancouvermediaproducciones and @netflixes @netflix And to you, my dear Professor. I will miss having such a good time with you. THANK YOU.”
Itziar Ituno, who plays Inspector Raquel Murillo and Alvaro’s love interest in the show, also posted a video on her social media account as she shot for her final scenes. She wrote in Spanish that can be translated into, “Now yes! GOODBYE, Inspector Raquel Murillo, Lisbon thief !! This is this trip !! Now yes! GOODBYE, HELLO, GOODBYE, GOODBYE, BYE, GOODBYE Raquel Murillo, Aio Lisboa !! Go on a trip !! What a trip."
Money Heist follows the story of eight thieves who take hostages and lock themselves in the Royal Mint of Spain. Originally planned for only two seasons, the series was renewed due to its huge popularity. It has received several awards Best Drama Series at the 46th International Emmy Awards. In 2018, it became the most-watched non-English series and one of the most-watched series overall on the streaming giant.
