On March 23, 2021, PeepingMoon had exclusively informed its readers that Vidya Balan's upcoming film Sherni will release on Amazon Prime Video. Now, the actress has announced the same with the first-ever poster of hers from the film.
Sharing the poster, along with the release month, Vidya wrote on Instagram, "Fearless as she steps out into the world! Happy to announce my latest film ‘Sherni’ @primevideoin Meet #SherniOnPrime in June." In the poster, Vidya is seen holding a walkie-talkie while being captured in a viewfinder.
Directed by Newton fame Amit Masurkar and written by Aastha Tiku, Sherni will see Vidya Balan playing the role of a forest officer. Inspired by real-life incidents, the film has strong humourous undertones with Vidya's character, along with a team of dedicated officers and forest guards, trying to find a solution to the man-animal conflict depicted in the film, while tracing her own journey.
The film also stars Vijay Raaz, Sharat Saxena, Neeraj Kabi, Ila Arun, Mukul Chadda, and Brijendra Kala among others. The exact release date of the film is yet to be revealed. However, it has been informed that the film will release on Amazon Prime Video in June 2021.
