After much wait, Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani's Shershaah is finally releasing after a year's delay. The film based on the life of Param Vir Chakra awardee and army captain Vikram Batra, Shershaah is taking a digital route and will release directly on Amazon Prime Video on August 12. Today, the makers announced the release date with a video that salutes all the brave hearts.
Sharing the video, Sidharth wrote, "Heroes live on through their stories. We are honoured to bring to you the true story of the Kargil War hero, Captain Vikram Batra (PVC).A film which has had a long journey for me and a real life character I am proud to play. #ShershaahOnPrime comes out on 12th August only on @primevideoin."
Shershaah is directed by Vishnuvardhan, written by Sandeep Srivastava and produced by Karan Johar under his banner of Dharma Productions. The film pays tribute to late captain Vikram Batra, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his bravery during the 1999 Kargil war.
Kargil Vijay Diwas is named after him and the success of Operation Vijay under which, India successfully took charge of high outposts on July 26, 1999, which had been lost to Pakistani intruders during the Kargil war.
