Shershaah talks about the bravery and indomitable spirit of every Indian soldier, including my brother: Captain Vikram Batra’s twin Vishal Batra on Sidharth Malhotra’s film

As the countdown begins for the global premiere of Shershaah, the cast and crew of the movie are leaving no stone unturned to elevate the excitement and anticipation amongst cinephiles. It isn’t just the team associated with the film, but Vishal Batra, twin brother of Capt. Vikram Batra (PVC), as well, who is also delighted to give fans a sneak peek into the life of his valiant brother, the real Shershaah.

Talking about Shershaah and his involvement in the movie, Vishal said, “Yes, it’s a great day for us because my dad’s dream and mine is finally coming true. We always wanted to showcase what Vikram has done on a big screen. We wanted to share the story of his bravery with every Indian. We were definitely the storytellers when it came to describing Vikram as an individual and as an army officer. We always believed that the personality of Vikram should remain intact. I have absolutely no doubt that Dharma and Kaash Entertainment have done a stellar job in showcasing his life and legacy to people who are in awe of my brother’s sheer bravado.”

Speaking about Capt. Vikram Batra (PVC) and the Kargil War, Vishal added, “Like every Indian back then, we too were glued to our television sets. But could have never imagined that Vikram would never come back. He used to write letters to me from there. He mentioned, in one of them, that he has been interviewed by papers and magazines and gave me detailed instructions to keep a copy of the clips because he wanted to see it once he was back. So, nowhere in the mind did it ever occur to me, or anyone, that he is never going to come back. In another letter he spoke about his life being at risk as anything could happen where he was posted and asked me to take care of mom and dad. He once told me that once you are enlisted into the infantry, there is a bullet made on your name in it.”

In addition to this, Vishal said, “This movie talks about the bravery and indomitable spirit of every Indian soldier who laid down their life in the historic Kargil war. It is an ode to them.”

Directed by Vishnu Varadhan, Shershaah is inspired by the life of Captain Vikram Batra (PVC) and stars Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani in the lead. Jointly produced by Dharma Productions and Kaash Entertainment, the film marks the first-ever and landmark collaboration between Amazon Prime Video and Dharma Productions for a global release. As a lead up to the Independence Day Weekend, Shershaah will stream on Amazon Prime Video in India and across 240 countries and territories starting August 12th, 2021.
