On December 16, 2020, PeepingMoon.com exclusively informed its readers that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is reviving his ambitious project Heeramandi. The mega web series made for Netflix was announced on August 10, a day after Sanjay completed 25 years in the industry. The official announcement about the cast is yet to be made but rumours are rife that two of Bollywood's finest actresses have been roped in to play the leads.
According to an entertainment portal's report, Madhuri Dixit and Rekha are most likely to reunite after Lajja Heeramandi. Reportedly, they will be seen playing the female leads in the series revolving around courtesans of Lahore and the hidden cultural reality of Heeramandi, a dazzling district, during pre-independent India. Madhuri and Rekha were recently seen together in the dance reality show Dance Deewane 3; the former is the judge of the show.
