The official handle of the series unveiled the first images of the new Princess Diana played by Elizabeth Debicki and Prince Charles played by Dominic West. The duo are taking over from Emma Corrin and Josh O’Connor who held the younger versions of the royal in season four of the show.

The Crown was previously expected to wrap at the end of season five but the streaming giant confirmed that the show will extend to at least another season. Creator Peter Morgan said in a statement, “As we started to discuss the storylines for series five, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons. To be clear, series six will not bring us any closer to present-day — it will simply enable us to cover the same period in greater detail.”

Besides, Debicki and West, the production released a first look at the show’s new Queen Elizabeth II, played by Imelda Staunton. The Crown season five is expected to premiere in 2022.
