‘With Chhalaang I wanted to break the conventional mould and try something different,’ says Nushrratt Bharuccha as her film completes one year

2020's one of the breakthrough performances belonged to Nushrratt Bharuccha who played the role of small town girl in the Hansal Mehta directorial Chhalaang. The film required the actress to take up the role of a Haryanvi teacher and the actress managed to nail her performance in the film which has now clocked a year. Throwing some light on the film the actress has now opened up on the film that won her lot of fan and critic's unanimous appreciation.

Recalling her experiences, Nushrratt shared, "Chhalaang completes one year, and I'm gratified to see praises still flowing its way from the lovely audience. As an actor, I have always aspired to bring to the table, something that is completely new and exciting. Having tried my hands in quirky comedy genres earlier, with Chhalaang I wanted to break the conventional mould and try something different and deliver my best at it. Thanks to Hansal Mehta Sir for guiding me on set and nurturing me as an actor and of course Rajkummar for being such a wonderful co-star, it's always fun to work with him."

While the actress's raw and real performance was much loved by the audiences, the film also received critical acclaim. The actress recently also bagged a nomination at the Busan International film festival for the best actress award for her role in the anthology film Ajeeb Daastaans.

Nushrratt's lineup currently features Chhorri, Hurdang, Janhit Mein Jaari, Ram Setu and an unnamed project, as she makes it 5 films between now and 2022.
