‘Honour of the highest order,’ say makers of Suriya’s Jai Bhim as a clip from film makes it to Oscars YouTube channel

Suriya’s Jai Bhim became one of the most popular and landmark films of 2021. The film sensitively touches upon caste divide and is based on a true incident that took place in 1993. The film though has been slapped with several controversies have managed to receive rave reviews and even received a Golden Globes 2022 entry under ‘Best Non-English Language Film’ category. Now, the makers of Jai Bhim have added another feather on their cap with a poignant scene from the film has made it to the Oscars official YouTube channel.

Suriya’s production house, 2D Entertainment has announced on social media that a clip of the film along with director, TJ Gnanavel’s narrative, has made it to the Oscars YouTube channel. The tweet reads, “An honour of the highest order! #JaiBhim has been featured in the official YouTube channel of @TheAcademy #SceneAtTheAcademy https://youtu.be/6tRv0L1Xq9Q #Oscars @Suriya_offl #Jyotika @tjgnan @rajsekarpandian @PrimeVideoIN (sic).”

The description of Jai Bhim mentioned on the Oscars YouTube channel reads, “Jai Bhim weaves in real case studies helmed by Activist-Lawyer Chandru, who brought justice to indigenous tribes in Tamilnadu through his relentless efforts. Writer-director TJ Gnanavel reveals how the story narrative was formed and executed (sic).”

The concluding line of Jai Bhim's description on the Golden Globe Awards official page could be read, “Jai Bhim is currently the highest user-rated film on IMDb with a score of 9.6. It surpassed the ratings of The Shawshank Redemption and The Godfather.”
