Obi-Wan Kenobi teaser trailer: Ewan McGregor as Jedi master keeps hope alive while he lives in self-imposed exile as Grand Inquisitor tries to hunt him

The first official teaser trailer of Disney+ Star Wars web series Obi-Wan Kenobi is here and it is sure to keep the fans happy. The show stars Ewan McGregor who is reprising his of the iconic Jedi Master, a part he previously played in three Star Wars films - The Phantom Menace (1999), Attack of the Clones (2002) and Revenge of the Sith (2005). He returns to the role after 17 years.

Obi-Wan Kenobi was first seen in the very first Star Wars film, A New Hope released in 1977, where the character was played by Alec Guinness. The prequel trilogy that came two decades later, showcased a younger Obi-Wan where his journey from padawan to Jedi master was shown in detail. The series teaser trailer opens with Obi-Wan living in a self-imposed exile as he says, “The fight is done, we lost,” as he comes to terms with the betrayal by his protégé Anakin Skywalker, but we see him keep an eye on young Luke Skywalker and advises him to ‘stay hidden’ and keeps the hope alive.

The teaser trailer further shows the Grand Inquisitor (played by Rupert Friend) hunting Obi-Wan  and says, “The Key to hunting Jedi is patience. Jedi cannot help what they are. Their compassion leaves a trail. The Jedi code is like an itch, he cannot help it.”

The official synopsis of the show reads, “The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. The series stars Ewan McGregor, reprising his role as the iconic Jedi Master, and also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader. Joining the cast are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.”

Obi-Wan Kenobi arrives on May 25 on Disney+ Hotstar in India.
