Yami Gautam is one of the very few actresses who has had multiple releases even during the COVID-19 pandemic. When theatres were closed with no certainty of reopening anytime soon, Yami’s films took the OTT route to entertain us. Her films like Ginny Weds Sunny, Bhoot Police, and A Thursday were all released on digital platforms to rave reviews and earned her accolades for playing these diverse characters with ease. As her new film, Dasvi, co-starring Abhishek Bachchan and Nimrat Kaur, starts premiering on Netflix India, the actress has already started gearing up for her next release.
Peepingmoon.com has learned that Yami Gautam’s Chor Nikal Ke Bhaaga has also opted for a direct-to-digital release and will premiere exclusively on the streaming giant Netflix around June-July this year. The film is an unannounced thriller based on a plot revolving around a diamond heist and will see Yami playing a grey character with a strong motive behind her. Sunny Kaushal plays the male lead, while Indraneil Sengupta, who has featured in web shows such as Abhay, Aranyak, Human, and Bloody Brothers, will also be seen in a pivotal role. The film has already completed shooting and is currently in post-production. It will mark Yami’s third film on Netflix after Ginny Weds Sunny and the recently released social-comedy, Dasvi.
Chor Nikal Ke Bhaaga is the same project that Amar Kaushik was supposed to make his directorial debut with in 2017. For those unaware, John Abraham and Rajkummar Rao were supposed to star in this film, but it couldn’t take off after John backed out of it, citing creative differences. It was later shelved after producers Prerna Arora and Arjun N. Kapoor walked out too. Almost five years later, Amar Kaushik is reviving this project in association with Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films. However, Amar is only producing this film while the directorial baton has been handed over to Ajay Singh, who has earlier helmed the Amazon Prime horror comedy series, Shaitaan Haveli (2018). Siraj Ahmed has written the film, tweaking the storyline to match the sensibilities of today's audiences.
Meanwhile, Yami Gautam has started shooting for her yet another revival project. The Bala actress is currently filming Dhoom Dhaam, a romantic comedy starring Pratik Gandhi. It’s the same Raat Baaki film that Yami’s husband Aditya Dhar was once making with Katrina Kaif and Fawad Khan before the film got shelved due to the ban on Pakistani actors post the Uri attack. Dhar is now reviving this film as a producer while Cash fame Rishab Seth is directing it from the script by Dhar and Aarsh Vora. Yami also has Aniruddh Roy Chowdhury’s Lost and Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 in the pipeline.
