Maestro first look: Bradley Cooper transforms into legendary Broadway composer Leonard Bernstein in his directorial

Bradley Cooper’s transformation as legendary Broadway composer Leonard Bernstein will surely leave his fans in shock after the first look photos from the Netflix-backed biographical drama Maestro was dropped. The film serves as Bradley’s directorial follow-up to Oscar winner A Star Is Born. The first look of Carey Mulligan as Felicia Montealegre (Bernstein’s wife) was also revealed. The photos show Bernstein at various ages, with impressive make-up applied on Bradley to make him look as elderly as the composer.

Reportedly, the film will chronicle the complex love story between Bernstein and Felicia and spans more that 30 years, from the time they met in 1946, and continuing through their two on-off engagements and subsequent 25-year marriage with three children (Jamie, Alexander and Nina). The film will also harp on Bernstein’s sexual orientation.

The film will be produced by Bradley as well as veteran filmmakers Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, alongside Kristie Macosko Krieger, Fred Berner and Amy Durning.

Production on Maestro started this month and the film is expected to release not before 2023.
