Disney dropped the first teaser trailer of Tom Hanks starrer live-action retelling of the popular fairytale Pinocchio today. Hanks plays Geppetto, the puppeteer who wishes for a son and makes a wooden boy that comes alive after his wish comes true. Cynthia Erivo stars as the Blue Fairy who grants Geppetto’s wish and turns the puppet Pinocchio into a real boy.
13-year-old Benjamin Evan Ainsworth voices Pinocchio in the live-action film while Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays the animated narrator Jiminy Cricket, who also gets ample footage in the teaser trailer. The film also stars Lorraine Bracco, Luke Evans, and Keegan-Michael Key. Additional cast members include Kyanne Lamaya, Giuseppe Battiston and Lewin Lloyd.

Robert Zemeckis has helmed Pinocchio which is based on the 1883 Italian book by Carlo Collodi and 1940 Disney movie of the same name. The live-action film has long been in development since 2015. The teaser trailer gives us a glimpse of the famous ballad When You Wish Upon a Star which is sung by the Blue Fairy instead of Jiminy Cricket as in the original film.
Pinocchio is a DisneyPlusDay premiere and will stream on Disney+ on September 8, 2022.
