Samaritan trailer: Sylvester Stallone plays a retired superhero in the film; netizens compare his look to Amitabh Bachchan

Sylvester Stallone is back, doing what he does best, playing a nice guy with whom you shouldn’t mess with. Amazon Prime Video released the first trailer for Samaritan, an upcoming film starring the legendary actor in the lead as a retired superhero. As soon as the trailer dropped netizens couldn’t help but note the uncanny resemblance Stallone bears to Amitabh Bachchan in the film. The film also stars Javon Walton as a thirteen-year-old boy hell-bent on trying to convince the titular Samaritan to go back to his superhero days and start fighting crime again.

The trailer shows Sylvester Stallone as Joe Smith who upon retiring from his superhero days works as a garbageman in the fictional Granite City. He spends his time by collecting precious and semi-precious objects from the trash and making some curio object from it. However, his simple life and artsy hobby takes a backseat when he crosses paths with Sam (Walton).

After he saves Sam from the bullies who were beating him to pulp with superhuman strength, the former gets convinced that he has unmasked the superhero Samaritan who everyone presumes to be dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis 25 years ago.  Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in the city, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to coax his neighbor out of hiding to save the city from ruin.

Samaritan also stars Pilou Asbæk, Dascha Polanco, and Moises Arias. Samaritan is directed by Julius Avery and written by Bragi F. Schut.

Samaritan will release on Amazon Prime Video globally on August 26, 2022.
