The reign of House Targaryen is set to unravel as Disney+ Hotstar brings you the much-awaited HBO series, House Of The Dragon, starting August 22 in India. The 10-episode series based on George R.R. Martin’s book Fire and Blood is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen. PeepingMoon's Entertainment Correspondent Rashita Sahni got special access to the show's first episode at the premiere and it is worth all the hype.
The new series set in author George RR Martin's revisionist epic-fictional world has been created with Ryan Condal, directed by Miguel Sapochnik, and takes place far back into the ancestral line of Daenerys and Jon Snow. It chronicles the history of Daenerys Targaryen's royal family during a disastrous internecine war known as 'The Dance of the Dragons' at a critical point in Westerosi history.
House of The Dragon retains the scope and ambition present in Thrones with its opening episode containing much of the politics and treachery fans came to love in the original series. While still telling a sprawling story that covers a broader timeframe, the show feels more intimate with much of its focus on the Targaryen family and their internal battles for power that will ultimately come to be their undoing.
Starring Milly Alcock, Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno and Rhys Ifans, the first episode will leave you wanting for more. Lots of dragons and swordplay would aptly describe the first episode. While the episode is full of battles, court intrigue, and dragons, it's the talk of succession that takes center stage. The performance, on the other hand, will leave you stunned. Be it Milly Alcock's strong act or Matt Smith's bloody war scenes, the actors of HOTD are to watch out for.
House Of The Dragon also stars Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Emily Carey, Harry Collett, Ryan Corr, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Graham McTavish, Ewan Mitchell, Theo Nate, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, Phia Saban, Gavin Spokes and Savannah Stey. The series will start airing on HBO and HBO Max globally on August 21. In India, it will stream on Disney+ Hotstar every Monday at 6:30 AM.
