Minus One: New Chapter is the second season of Minus One that explored the novel idea of former lovers being roommates and whether it is possible for people to move on from their dissolved relationship. Minus One Season 2 takes us back in time when Varun (Ayush Mehra) and Ria (Aisha Ahmed) were a couple and madly in love with each other but delves a lot deeper into the reasons why they eventually broke up. The series brings a compelling tale of love, loss and longing.

Minus One: New Chapter reveals the reasons for Varun and Ria’s breakup with relatable moments of love, laughter, pain and anguish. The delivery in the second season is fairly nuances as compared to the first and Ayush Mehra and Aisha Ahmed raise their chemistry quite a few notches in Minus One: New Chapter. There are quite a few new characters added to the series but none of them take away the focus from the lead characters and instead provide able support in advancing the narrative. The episodes are a little lengthier this time but they are not at all tedious and boring, instead keeps one’s attention intact.

Aisha Ahmed and Ayush Mehra exude sizzling chemistry in the second season of the series. Their passionate and intense lip locks are emotionally moving and impactful bringing out their romantic relationship to fore with aplomb. They deserve applause for commendable and nuanced acting. However, some of the disagreements and fights that their characters indulge in seem frivolous and trivial; but the creators skillfully manage to portray how things can escalate and grow out of proportion if not nipped in the bud in a romantic relationship.

What seems a bit unrealistic is the fact that how privileged and fortunate these characters’ lives are and some of the issues are pretty pointless. It is also not difficult to discern who is to be blamed in a particular issue and once in a while Minus One: New Chapter will make you shake your head with disbelief at the fact that how easily strife could have been avoided, but then that is the basic problem of every relationship that crumbles. No wonder, millennials get a lot of brickbats for their high-and-mighty attitude and the habit of not trying to mend things.

Overall, Minus One: New Chapter brings a fresh new concept that makes us believe in love and romance once again. We get to see how people evolve in a relationship and vice versa and captures adulting in the new age. Minus One: New Chapter is releasing on Lionsgate Play on February 14, 2023.

PeepingMoon.com gives Minus One: New Chapter, 3 Moons.
