Grammys 2023: Cardi B gives 'Wearable Art' a new avant-garde spin with an electrifying statement on the red carpet courtesy of Gaurav Gupta

At the 65th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony held in Los Angeles on February 5, 2023, American rapper and songwriter Cardi B made an electrifying statement in wearable art by Gaurav Gupta. The singer is known for selecting eccentric but really fashionable outfits on Grammys night, and this time, it just so happened to be one from a rising Indian designer.

The rigid shell with curves that embraced the body, the geometrically avant-garde designs, and the cosmic sequins are the undeniable signs of a confection that came off the runway at Paris Fashion Week.

Cardi looked surreal in a hooded electric blue sculpture gown artfully moulded, the statement piece was paired with a silk organza and a silk satin trail skirt. Exploring sculptural draping forms in indigo electric blue, the design did 100 percent justice to her flamboyant and fierce personality and of course, the drama! Cardi accented her look with striking diamond jewellery pieces from Messika under the direction of fashion stylist Kollin Carter.

This isn’t the first time Cardi B has celebrated Gaurav’s designs. The rapper was featured in the video remix of the popular song No Love in 2022 wearing a white, amorphous shapeshifter artwork. Gaurav offered the Grammys 2023 red carpet a chance to artistically celebrate India by exploring the themes of surrealism and fanaticism since the brand's debut in 2004.

In over 18 years, the designer has created a cosmos that is essentially Indian and limitless in form by fusing conventional methods of building and ornamentation with his vision of the future. Gaurav, a creative genius, honoured his craft during Paris Haute Couture Week this year. In addition to Cardi B, several other renowned international artists have worn his creations, including Skylar Astin, Chrishell Stause, and Meagan Thee Stallion.

Taking his global artwork to international platforms, Gaurav Gupta is truly one of the top designers in India. How this is a big moment for him!
