Bhumi Pednekar has always been a socially conscious citizen and she has started a much-lauded pan India advocacy campaign - Climate Warrior, to raise awareness on Environmental Conservation and Climate Change. Climate Warrior is a concerted social media initiative that Bhumi spearheads to highlight the incredible work done by tireless environmental activists and citizen groups across India. She uses her highly engaged social media following to voice concerns about the rapidly changing climatic conditions in the nation. Now, Bhumi has been roped in for an international initiative on climate change that hopes to unite the youth of India to become the public face of the movement to lead collective climate action.
Bhumi has been signed aboard the Purpose campaign that is closely working with the United Nations globally to lead climate action campaigns across India, Brazil, South Africa. The actor and climate advocate says, “In the last two years, we’ve encountered some distressing climate-related headlines. From extreme weather events to raging forest fires and distressed marine systems. But these headlines only tell one side of the story. What gets lost in the text is that we can still limit human-induced climate change.”
Bhumi is inviting the youth to join this important campaign and adds, “The latest IPCC report validates this point. But to do this, we need to act now. Climate action is collective action. Without nations and individuals coming together, we cannot make the big changes required. Young people across India are already showing us a way ahead. Let’s join hands to set the future course of climate. Let’s change the headlines. Join the movement to support collective climate action in India.”
‘Keep every day Pollution free,’ advises Manushi Chhillar to a fan who has dedicated this Diwali in her name
Bollywood debutant Manushi Chhillar, who stars opposite superstar Akshay Kumar in the big screen spectacle Prithviraj, told a hardcore fan to be conscious about pollution when he decided to dedicate this Diwali in her name by bursting firecrackers that had her face on it! A fan uploaded images of these firecrackers and captioned it saying, “Iss Diwali Manushi aapke naam!” Manushi acknowledged the love that the die-hard fan was showering on her but with a message that should make everyone think about how we can all do our not to check pollution, festivities or not.
Manushi said, “Thank you. This is really humbling but have a safe and clean Diwali. Let’s keep every day Pollution free. We all know it’s the need of the hour.” Interestingly Manushi’s face on the firecrackers (without her permission) signifies her growing appeal. Only faces of top female superstars have been used on the packaging of such crackers (without their consent or endorsement deals) over the ages because of their roaring popularity with the masses. With Manushi landing the biggest debut that any newcomer has got in the recent years added to her drop dead gorgeous looks, she is definitely a heroine to watch out for.
