Honey Singh talks about Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone's 'Besharam Rang' controversy, says 'freedom was much more earlier, people were sensible'

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s first track Besharam Rang from Pathaan courted massive controversy. Madhya Pradesh minister Dr. Narottam Mishra fumed over the use of saffron costumes in the song. Ever since, a demand to boycott the film has been going on all over the internet.

After this, several politicians also followed suit and raised objections to the song. Now, rapper Honey Singh has reacted to it. Honey said, “Freedom was much more earlier. People may have been less educated but they were far more sensible. They were intellectually wiser and would take things as entertainment. They wouldn't take anything to heart."

Honey Singh also cited example of AR Rahman's song Rukmani Rukmani from the 1992 feature Roja. He further told PTI that if the track had released in current times, there could have been a huge controversy. “Rahman sir had a song, 'Rukmani Rukmani shaadi ke baad kya kya hua'... People accepted it. I grew up listening to it, but when I made such lyrics, people started protesting. Now it's even worse, people have become way too sensitive. I can't fathom why. It's just entertainment," the rapper said.

The song released on December 12 and Pathaan is all set to release on January 25.
