Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham's Pathaan landed in controversy immediately after its first song titled Besharam Rang dropped in on December 12, 2022. Multiple FIRs and boycott calls were made against the song as well as the film for insulting the Hindu community by wearing a saffron/orange coloured swimsuit.
Now, as the film is up for release in 20 days, members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal created a ruckus outside a multiplex in a mall in Ahmedabad's Vastrapur area and also tore posters and promotional material of Pathaan.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists were shouting slogans while tearing cut-outs of Pathaan's lead cast. In Gujarat, VHP members had claimed earlier that they won't allow Pathaan to release in the state due to Besharam Rang.
Gujarat VHP spokesperson Hitendrasinh Rajput said in a statement, "We will not allow Pathaan's screening in Gujarat. Today's protest against the movie's release in Ahmedabad should be taken as a warning by all the theatre owners across the state. They must stay away from releasing the movie in their theatres or multiplexes." The Vastrapur police rushed to the spot to control the situation. Some members were detained too.
Pathaan is scheduled to release on January 25.
