First things first, a happy Met Gala day to all the fashionistas who are celebrating! After waiting for an entire year, we await the first Monday of May with bated breath to stump us sartorially and boy, we are never left disappointed. Flagged off on May 1 at 6.30 PM EST this year, the ‘Oscars of Fashion’ unleashed a sartorial extravaganza on the cream carpet of the Metropolitan Museum of Arts. From the regulars to the debutantes, everyone came prepared at the gala to celebrate the theme of the eve, ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.’ The crème-da-le-crème of the fashion industry put their stylish foot forward dressed ‘in honour of Karl.’ While some understood the assignment, others missed the mark. Here are some memorable fashion moments straight from this year’s red carpet:
HITS
RIHANNA AND ASAP ROCKY
Just like every year, RiRi was late, but, she was so worth the wait. Cocooned in a Valentino haute couture, Rihanna looked oh-so-fabulous in a silk faille dress with a 5-meter train and silk faille cape with 30 camelias, 500 petals and 25 leaves. The cat-eyed sunnies with false lashes and a bold red lip added a dash of drama to her pristine white look. Upon climbing the stairs, she undid the cape to reveal the baby bump. Drama mama in the truest sense. Beau ASAP took cues from the legend himself and wore a checkered kilt with distressed denim teamed with a signature black blazer white shirt and a tie, all from Gucci.
ANNE HATHAWAY
Anne slayed on the carpet of the gala in a custom Atelier Versace gown combining signatures of both Karl Lagerfeld's Chanel and Versace. The hybrid fit featured Chanel’s iconic tweed paired with Versace’s signature pins while the Chanel Camellia flowers, which have become synonymous with the brand decorated the bust. Now that’s how you pay an ode.
PEDRO PASCAL
Pedro was giving baddie daddy energy on the cream carpet in a red-hot Valentino look designed by Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli. The actor made us go weak in the knees showing off his toned calves in black wool shorts paired with a red shirt, a double wool oversized and a ValenTie with gold metal V detail. A fun, fashion look indeed!
FLORENCE PUGH
For her maiden MET appearance, Flo looked spectacular in a white silk taffeta backless dress with a black silk chiffon bow detail, designed especially for her using 64 meters of silk. Flaunting a buzz cut, the diva adorned a black feather crown.
KRISTEN STEWART
Kristen in a suit- HAWT! The cropped blazer and tie, the sheer shirt the baggy trousers…oh mama! Not to forget, the glam and hair are on point as well!

Kim Kardashian’s look came off as underwhelming given her last year’s Marilyn Monroe stint. Also, the look doesn’t seem well put together!

Kendall’s outfit comes more like a costume than couture and we are not sure what to feel about this one.

Given a reputation of being a fashion moghul, Kylie seems to have missed the memo or not understood the assignment. We don’t know which one is worse.
